Domestic Violence Support
P.H.O.E.B.E is not an emergency service, if you are in immediate danger please call 999.
P.H.O.E.B.E steps in to offer psycho-social and legal support to empower and assist Black minoritised, and migrant women to make informed decisions and take concrete steps against domestic violence through:
- Weekly group support networks
- Vocational skills training for Black, minoritised, and migrant women and girls
- Food parcels and baby items for service users who are in immediate need
- Campaigning against VAWG through partnership working and social media channels
- Legal assistance with protection orders and immigration matters
- Referrals to other organisations for temporary accommodation, protection services, mental health needs.
We also carry out preventative work for women and girls who are vulnerable to experiencing gender–based violence. We provide counselling, education and training, assistance in accessing healthcare, and weekly support groups including our Strong Black Girls sessions for young women and girls which focus on combatting vulnerability to VAWG. Workshops respond to contemporary issues that young women face such as safe use of social media, reframing negative talk, and how beauty is defined. These workshops are part of the Suffolk Girls Self-esteem Project that we deliver in schools across Ipswich. We also address the disadvantages, inequalities, and sexual and gender – based violence (SGBV) faced by Black and minoritised women during their time in prison and on probation through our You Can’t Break Me project.
If you are in need of support, please contact our Ipswich office on 01473 760966 or visit our centre Monday to Friday from 10am – 4:30pm.
